If dental visits make you tense, oral sedation is one option we offer: a pill that takes you into a twilight state.
Full steps are on our Sedation page. Below is what to expect, who it fits, and how to plan the visit.
Call (706) 235-8687 or request an appointment and say you want oral sedation so we can plan a morning visit and confirm your driver.
How oral sedation works here
- Before: Arrange a responsible driver. Do not eat after midnight the night before. Plan on a morning appointment. Bring a blanket or pillow if that helps you settle.
- During: We give you a sedation pill in the office. Many people reach a twilight state where they stay calm while still able to respond. Multiple procedures can often be completed in that visit.
- After: Your driver takes you home. Many people remember little of the visit. The next day, you should usually feel back to normal from the sedation itself.
Fit and safety are confirmed at your visit. The option we publish is the oral pill described above.
Who asks about oral sedation
Patients who struggle with fear, a strong gag reflex, or the stress of longer visits often ask about this option. It can also help when several procedures belong in one appointment.
We confirm it is a fit based on your health history and the planned treatment. Dr. Will Edwards has conscious sedation training; the offering patients book is the oral pill path on our sedation page.
What oral sedation is
Oral sedation is a planned, pill-based way to reduce anxiety during your visit. You take it as directed, a driver brings you and takes you home, and you get clear before-and-after instructions. You are relaxed but not put under the way you would be with general anesthesia. We still examine you, explain the plan, and treat the teeth that need care.
If you need urgent care and also want sedation, say both things when you call. Timing, driver availability, and fasting rules all matter.
How sedation fits with the rest of your care
Oral sedation supports cleanings and restorative visits when anxiety has delayed them, longer crown appointments, root canal treatment, extractions and wisdom teeth when the case fits, and other general dentistry. Overview: Treatment.
You will be cared for by Dr. Will Edwards and Dr. Lauren Lindsey. Dr. Edwards grew up in Rome. Dr. Lindsey grew up in Cedartown, has been part of this office since 2020 before dental school, and practices here after her May 2026 DMD.
