Implant vs Bridge vs Denture in Rome, GA

Implant vs Bridge vs Denture in Rome, GA

Missing a tooth in Rome or Floyd County? Three common options are a dental implant, a bridge, and a denture. The right choice depends on the gap, the teeth next to it, bone, and your goals. This is plain English on the differences. It is not a treatment plan. We need to see you first.

Already leaning toward implants? See our dental implants in Rome, GA page.

Dental implant

An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. It can hold a crown, or help stabilize a partial or full denture. Placement and the restorative work that follows can stay in this office.

Dr. Will Edwards, DMD, FICOI, and Dr. Lauren Lindsey, DMD, provide implant care at William L. Edwards Dentistry. Dr. Edwards holds a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Bridge

A bridge fills the gap by using neighboring teeth for support. It can be a strong option when the teeth next to the space are good candidates and bone or other factors make another path less suitable. The exam tells us whether a bridge, an implant, or another plan fits your mouth.

Dentures

Dentures replace several teeth or a full arch. Some patients do well with dentures alone. Others want implants under a denture for more stability when chewing and speaking. We discuss both paths after we see you.

Care in one office

At many practices, patients get sent out for the implant and return for the crown. Here, Dr. Will Edwards and Dr. Lauren Lindsey provide implant care in this office, so placement and the crown or denture work stay with the same team when the case fits. Extractions and grafting stay in-house with Dr. Edwards when needed.
